This is a digital collection of historical documents on fisheries of the United States from early 1800s to early 1900s. The collection includes historical photographs and maps, oral history of fishing, early papers of logbooks, dredging records of the U.S. Fish Commission research vessels, and other unique historical documents. Source material is from the U.S. National Archives & Records Administration collection: Records of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Record Group 22.4; The Smithsonian Institution Archives historical collections: Smithsonian Institution Archives Record Unit (RU) 7184; Natural History Museum; and from the NOAA Central Library's collection.
